Public Relations Student Society of America- June 2012 Etiquette Dinner
As president of the PRSSA Brigham Young University-Idaho chapter my executive board and I decided to host an etiquette dinner for all business and communication students, in which over fifty students attended. We had a certified etiquette teacher, Jaine Fisher as our speaker for the evening. We started with the cocktail hour where we learned how to start a conversation and the proper speaking topics. We also learned how to hold our cup, plate of h’orderves, and napkin while still being able to shake one another’s hands. When it was time to begin the dinner course we went over how to have your seat pushed in for the ladies and how to push in a seat for the men. Once the dinner portion began we learned the basics to each part from the soup through dessert.
Department of Communication-
June 2012 Comm Day
Every semester at Brigham Young University-Idaho the college of business and communication holds a conference day where alumni and other relevant speakers are invited to come and provide insight from their industry. I had the opportunity to help with the Spring 2012 conference, Comm Day. Our overall theme was, “A New Look At New Media,” in which we had six speakers and two key note speakers come. I participated in making travel and lodging arrangements, having posters and other advertisements made, providing campus tours, hosting the key note speakers, and managing the Twitter account for the event. You may read a brief over view of the event here.
